Allergan Aesthetics presented new research at AMWC 2026 indicating a shift toward subtle, natural-looking outcomes in hyaluronic acid injectables and emphasizing the role of personalized treatment approaches.

Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, announced findings at the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress 2026 in Monaco indicating a shift in the hyaluronic acid injectable category toward what it describes as an “undetectable” era, characterized by subtle, natural-looking results.

Shift Toward Subtle Aesthetic Outcomes

The company reported that patients increasingly seek results that are not readily noticeable and that align with a longevity-based approach to aging. According to research discussed at the meeting, patients prefer outcomes that appear natural and are only perceptible to themselves or close acquaintances.

Dr Juliana Chieppe, a dermatologist practicing in Brazil who was interviewed for the research and discussed the findings on the panel at the congress, said, “Natural-looking for me means preserving the patient’s beauty. And that’s exactly why I love the word ‘undetectable.’ I fully welcome the new ‘undetectable era’, because to achieve an undetectable look, it’s important to respect the aging process and provide a natural-looking result.”

Global Consumer Insights

Data from a global study of more than 12,000 consumers across nine countries showed that 74% prefer aesthetic results that look undetectable, 85% favor natural and subtle outcomes, and 81% value personalized treatment plans. The findings also indicated that 71% of respondents are concerned about appearing overdone.

Role of HA Injectables and Consultation

The company emphasized that achieving these outcomes depends on individualized consultation, product selection, and injection technique. It noted that hyaluronic acid injectables can be used to restore volume, balance facial features, and provide results that gradually fade over time.

Chieppe said, “HA Injectables can be tailored for the patient’s needs, in addition to being supported with science-based data and a well-established safety profile and being reversible. Some injectables are ‘one size fits all’, and don’t offer the precise tailoring of the amount that is possible with HA injectables.”

Practitioner Approach and Treatment Planning

The company stated that practitioners play a central role in delivering individualized outcomes through full-face assessment and strategic injection techniques. It also highlighted its AA Signature approach as a framework for combining products and modalities in personalized treatment plans.

Mark Wilson, senior vice president at International Allergan Aesthetics, said, “In a world where ‘natural’ is almost impossible to define, we herald this new ‘undetectable’ era, which provides the language for patients to communicate, and practitioners to understand, that patients still want to look like themselves, just more glowing, healthy, and rested.”

Ongoing Education and Clinical Resources

Allergan Aesthetics also announced the release of a report titled Layered Beauty: The New Aesthetic Mindset and highlighted ongoing training programs for healthcare professionals. The company additionally marked more than 10 years of MD Codes with the launch of a new book by Dr Mauricio de Maio featuring clinical case studies.
