The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is highlighting how energy-based devices are reshaping non-surgical facial rejuvenation in 2025.

The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) is spotlighting how energy-based devices (EBDs) are redefining facial aesthetics in 2025. AAFPRS President Anthony E Brissett, MD, FACS, said, โ€œEnergy-based devices are helping transform whatโ€™s possible in facial plastic surgery,โ€ and emphasized that this year is focused on personalization, precision, and combining technologies for more noticeable results.

Combination Approaches Enhance Surgical Outcomes

Brissett noted that facial plastic surgeons are using EBDs alongside surgical techniques to achieve natural-looking, long-lasting results. The combination addresses patient demand for less downtime and more tailored procedures.

Technology Meeting Demand for Personalization

Michael Somenek, MD, chair of the AAFPRS Public Information, PR, and Social Media Committee, reinforced this direction. โ€œPatients today want personalization, and 2025 is the year technology finally caught up with that demand,โ€ he said. โ€œEnergy-based devices are no longer one-size-fits-all but instead theyโ€™re layered, targeted, and precise, allowing physicians to fine-tune outcomes like never before.โ€

Non-Surgical Lifting and Firming on the Rise

Treatments known as โ€œweekend liftsโ€ are increasing as patients seek skin tightening and contouring without surgery. These combine ultrasound, fractional skin resurfacing, and energy-based body remodeling with injectables and, when needed, surgery. This approach is especially relevant for patients with post-weight-loss skin laxity.

Combining Laser and Energy-Based Therapies

Traditional COโ‚‚ laser resurfacing is being enhanced with radiofrequency microneedling to deliver energy deeper into the dermis. The result is improved texture, tightening, and faster recovery, showing how legacy treatments are evolving for broader results.

Gentler Rejuvenation Options for Sensitive Skin

Fractional Erbium and Erbium-RF resurfacing are offering precise, energy-based alternatives for patients needing subtle skin improvements. These treatments provide better tone, texture, and firmness with faster healing and minimal downtime, making them suitable for sensitive skin types.
