Following notified body confirmation, the company is continuing the rollout of its full Microthane portfolio, available in both standard EasyFit and lightweight B-Lite gel options.
Polytech Health & Aesthetics has announced the availability of its full Microthane breast implant portfolio. Following confirmation by its Notified Body, the company is continuing a phased market introduction of the implants, which are available in both the standard EasyFit gel and the lightweight B-Lite gel.
With a global presence in more than 90 countries, the Germany-based medical technology company develops technologies intended for use in both aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. The Microthane surface technology utilizes an updated manufacturing process that results in a flat posterior surface and a smooth edge transition, according to the company.
Lightweight Gel Technology
The B-Lite Microthane implants combine tissue adherence and stability with a lightweight gel. These implants weigh up to 30% less than conventional silicone implants of equivalent size, form, and function. The company says this weight reduction is designed to reduce stress on surrounding tissues. Together, the strong tissue adherence and reduced tissue stress may contribute to stable, predictable surgical outcomes over the long term, the company says in a release.
The combination of the Microthane surface and B-Lite gel may offer specific advantages in breast reconstruction. Polytech cites published clinical evidence demonstrating low rates of capsular contracture and reoperation when these implants are used in reconstructive procedures.

Manufacturing and Research
Polytech says it continues to invest in technologies through internal research, development, and scientific collaboration. The company manufactures all of its breast implants at its headquarters in Dieburg, Germany.
The availability of the full portfolio allows surgeons to select between the standard or lightweight gel options to best meet the clinical needs of each patient, according to the company.
