Kim Kardashian, Sofia Vergara, Kate Upton, Pamela Anderson โฆ What do these four lovely ladies all have in common? Yup, you guessed it – very large breasts.
Now letโs delve into the minds of breast augmentation patients for a minute.
Whether a gift from mother nature or the neighborhood plastic surgeon, when you hear any of these ladyโs names, more often than not the thought of boobs probably pops into your head (and maybe a nose job, if youโre a true celebrity gossip detective!) The whole controversy of whether these voluptuous assets are real or not is a topic you probably overhear at least a couple times a week. And unless you are BFFs with one of them, you most likely will never know the real answer.
But another question that isnโt addressed quite as much is, why did they do it? Given youโd have to know for a fact that they underwent some cosmetic enhancement procedure to ask that, and I think it is safe to assume Iggy Azalea is a prime candidate for questioning. Not only is it visibly obvious, but it definitely helps our case when she admits to getting a boob job!
When she was asked during an interview what she would change about her body, Iggy quite candidly replied, โI did change something. Four months ago, I got bigger boobs! Iโd thought about it my entire life.โ
Maybe she had thought about it her entire life, or maybe the pressures from fame triggered the idea. It is much easier to publicly admit you self-enhanced by individual choice, but not so much a walk in the park speaking truthfully about the desire to fit into this aesthetically driven world. Regardless of the primary push, I think it is a general conception that if you enhance your outer appearance, it will duly enhance your inner confidence. Yes, you are guaranteed some physical enhancement after breast augmentation, but you are not guaranteed a rise in self-esteem; that has to come from within.
Joubin S. Gabbay, MD, of Breast Augmentation Beverly Hills states, โIf someone feels that a cosmetic operation will help them get through some larger struggles in their lives, that isnโt going to be helped by surgery. You have to say, โLook, itโs a long-term decision. Do you understand whatโs going on, do you have good reasoning?โโ
UCLA psychiatry professor David K. Wellisch also has a similar take on this theory. โ[Many women Iโve encountered] simply arenโt happy with their bodies and wish to improve them. They have realistic expectations that if this is done, they will look more satisfying to their own eye and to others. But their self-esteem does not depend on it.โ
Knowing the majority of doctors will not perform on women who solely want to please others or gain back the love of an ex, itโs a fair assumption that Iggy did it for herself. There just happened to be an added perk of inspiring others to follow their dreams, aesthetic or not.
Iggy initially contemplated whether to publicly share the news or not, but ultimately decided she didn’t want her female fans to feel insecure about their own bodies. โEverybody did say, โI don’t think you need to say it because no one will ever know because they’re so small. I decided I wasnโt into secret-keeping,โ โ she voiced.
While some women are perfectly happy with just breast augmentation like Iggy, others may desire a more transformed look. Modern science and technology has now made it possible to increase breast size and contour your midsection at the same time with stem cell breast augmentation. Stem cell breast augmentation uses Adipose Derived Stem Cells harvested from your own body fat via liposuction, and injects it into your breasts. Dr Bruce Fishman of Stem Cells Los Angeles states, โStem cell breast augmentation is a great alternative for women who desire additional body contouring, or simply donโt want implants. A lot of women are drawn to this procedure because enhanced breast shape is achieved naturally with their own body fat.โ
Some women may desire breast enhancement after a divorce or think it will spice up their marriage; those may be your added perks. But ultimately, you have to be comfortable in your own skin before thinking, “Hey, I love my body, but I think itโd be awesome to go up a couple cup sizes!”
We will never know the real reason behind Iggyโs bust increase; we can only make an educated guess here. But from everything gathered, and her seemingly ecstatic reaction… “I love them so much I had to talk about them!”… seems like it was the right choice for her.
There is no such thing as the perfect body, since after all, perfection is in the eye of the beholder. But if it makes you happy, itโs the right choice for you.
