Lumenis this week announced the launch of its M22 multi-application platform, featuring a bundling of Lumenis technologies, including Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT) and Multiple-Sequential Pulsing, at the International Master Course on Aging Skin (IMCAS) in Paris, France.

The company describes the M22 as a new modular platform that features IPL and Nd:YAG and "plug-and-play upgradability and a resourceful modular design for maximum versatility and the greatest return on investment,” according to Robert Mann, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lumenis’ Aesthetic Business

The M22 offer a broad range of energy output in a tabletop form factor, and comes with a touch screen user interface and hundreds of presets. The unit can be expanded to allow for the treatment of multiple skin conditions using one device, according to a company press release.

With OPT, physicians can treat a variety of skin types by controlling each pulse shape. Multiple-Sequential Pulsing enables permanent hair reduction on darker skin, as well as reducing the chance of skin damage in vascular and pigmented lesion treatment.

The M22 offers a Nd:YAG upgrade module, proven for vascular lesions, leg veins, and nonablative facial wrinkle treatment. The treatment head is equipped with two spot sizes (2-by-4 mm and 6 mm) for precision treatment, as well as "computer-enabled recognition and SapphireCool Light Guides for optimal patient comfort," according to the company.
