The company says the advisory structure will guide development of recovery protocols and products as cosmetic surgery volumes continue to grow.

HSL Labs has assembled a group of plastic and reconstructive surgeons to serve on a new Professional Advisory Board and Clinical Advisory Council focused on post-surgical recovery.

The company says the advisory groups will help guide research, protocols, and product development aimed at improving healing and recovery following cosmetic procedures.

The announcement comes as cosmetic surgery continues to grow in the United States. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 1.6 million cosmetic surgical procedures and more than 25 million total cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2023. Globally, the aesthetic medicine market is projected to exceed $160 billion within the next decade.

Despite advances in surgical techniques, the company says recovery support has received less attention as a dedicated area of research.

Under the new structure, the Professional Advisory Board will provide scientific oversight while the Clinical Advisory Council—made up of practicing surgeons—will contribute anonymized, HIPAA-compliant clinical insights intended to help refine recovery programs and product development.

Several products are currently in development, including RecoverDerm Advanced Post-Surgical Serum, HSL Silicone Heal+ Structured Scar Matrix Gel, and the Dermal MicroCirculation Support Complex, a topical system designed to support localized tissue oxygenation and inflammation control.

Research published in journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has found that optimized post-operative care protocols can reduce complication rates and improve scar outcomes.

“HSL Labs is building an infrastructure where surgeons are not peripheral endorsers, but central architects,” according to a release from the company. “The objective is to develop clinically coherent recovery frameworks that reflect surgical realities.”

The company says integrating surgeon expertise with structured research and oversight could help establish more standardized approaches to post-surgical recovery as the aesthetic medicine market continues to expand.
