Facial plastic surgeon Konstantin Vasyukevich, MD, shares how personalized mini-lifts and targeted injectables are meeting patient demand for natural results with minimal downtime.

In today’s aesthetic landscape, patients are increasingly opting for less invasive treatments that offer natural-looking results with minimal downtime. This trend is particularly strong among younger demographics seeking to maintain their appearance through early intervention and ongoing refinement. To explore how this shift is reshaping facial rejuvenation strategies, Plastic Surgery Practice spoke with Konstantin Vasyukevich, MD, a New York City–based facial plastic surgeon known for his subtle, anatomy-driven approach. In this interview, Dr. Vasyukevich discusses the rise of mini-lifts, the evolving role of injectables, and how personalized treatment planning is redefining long-term patient care.

Plastic Surgery Practice: What patient demographics are driving the increased demand for minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, and how are their goals shaping the types of procedures you recommend?

Konstantin Vasyukevich, MD: We’re seeing more patients in their 30s and 40s who are focused on prevention, maintaining their appearance with subtle, natural-looking improvements. They want to look refreshed, not different, and prefer minimal downtime. This has led to an increase in mini face lifts and subtle use of injectables to address early signs of aging while maintaining natural movement and facial harmony.

PSP: You’ve noted a rise in mini-lifts and targeted injectables, how have your techniques evolved to meet patient expectations for natural results with minimal downtime?

Vasyukevich: My focus has always been on achieving natural, balanced results. Patients are now seeking the kind of natural, minimal-downtime results that facial procedures in the past were not always able to offer. Mini face lifts performed under local anesthesia allow for a shorter recovery while still addressing early signs of aging. For injectables, it’s about small, precise changes that restore harmony without altering expression.

PSP: How do you approach facial contouring, particularly jawline and neck refinement—differently today compared to 5 or 10 years ago?

Vasyukevich: In the past, there was more of a one‑size‑fits‑all approach. Today, our understanding has evolved, and the focus is on hyper‑personalization. Each patient’s jawline and neck are addressed with techniques tailored to their unique anatomy, ensuring results that look natural, balanced, and in harmony with the rest of the face.

PSP: With more patients seeking subtle yet effective outcomes, how do you balance surgical versus non-surgical options in treatment planning?

Vasyukevich: Treatment decisions are guided by the nature of the concern, whether it’s volume loss, fine lines, tissue laxity, or a combination of these. Fillers can restore volume, Botox softens fine lines and wrinkles, but when laxity is the main issue, especially along the jawline, cheeks, and neck, surgery is the most effective solution. The goal is to choose the approach that delivers the longest-lasting result with the least amount of intervention necessary.

PSP: What are the key considerations when managing long-term results for patients pursuing smaller-scale procedures over time instead of a single, more comprehensive intervention?

Vasyukevich: Consistency and planning are key. Smaller procedures can be very effective, but they require regular maintenance and a clear understanding of what each treatment can, (and cannot) achieve. I work closely with patients over time, adjusting the plan as their needs evolve to ensure the result remains natural, balanced, and in harmony with the rest of the face. PSP
