In many parts of the country, COVID-19 has forced the closure of bars, restaurants, hair salons, spas, and even some doctorโ€™s offices. Physicians have been urged to cancel or postpone elective surgeries in order to free hospital beds for a predicted surge in patients. To comply with social distancing advisories, some dermatologists in private practice have also shuttered their doors to non-emergency appointments. With physical offices closed, doctors are turning to virtual visits as a means of treating patients from afar.

For dermatologists and their patients, the push toward teledermatology means doctor visits can occur even while under self-quarantine.
