A recent viral TikTok video shows TikToker Julie Carpenter contemplating getting something done about her sagging upper eyelid skin before showing the clearly very recent after photo from her blepharoplasty procedure.
Popsugar examined the trend and spoke to Plastic Surgeon Robert Schwarcz, MD, about what those interested in blepharoplasty should expect in pricing, downtime, and even some potential downsides.
To check whether you’re a possible candidate for an eyelid lift, Dr. Schwarcz recommends “looking at old photos to compare differences in current anatomy” and “looking for droopiness and volume loss and seeking a few consultations with surgeons that do a lot of eyelid-lift surgeries.”
While they’re considered major surgeries, eyelid lifts take much less time to perform than other, larger surgeries. According to Dr. Schwarcz, the surgery is “somewhat invasive, but compared to bigger procedures, such as a tummy tuck, it is significantly less so.”
