A group of US and Canadian dermatologists is using telemedicine to extend their expertise around the world, helping care providers in developing countries where access to specialist care is limited and the need is high.

Telederm Outreach, formed roughly a year ago in Washington DC and partnering with the Canadian teledermatology company ConsultDerm, uses volunteer specialists to connect with care providers in other countries. Using ConsultDerm’s connected health platform, the specialists review information provided by the distant doctors and offer advice on treatment.
