A new longer-lasting muscle freezing injection is being tested in the US and should reach our shores within the next two years. Frankly, we’re dead excited.

RT002, as its currently known, is being tested in the US with studies kicking off late last year. At this point, the trials are looking at whether the treatment is effective in removing the glabellar lines (that nasty crinkle between the eyebrows that makes you look super cranky even when you’re not).

Washington, D.C. dermatologist Tina Alster, MD, who is an investigator for the trials, was quoted on New Beauty as saying, “The latest injectable neurotoxin, RT002, shows promise as a Botox alternative that has a prolonged clinical effect.”

Prolonged people. PROLONGED. Now, before we get to that let’s talk muscle freezers in general. You’ve probably heard of Botox.

Botox, of course, is just a brand name for the muscle-freezing injectable hundreds of thousands of women (and men) are using to obliterate frown lines, crow’s feet and the glabellar lines.
