Phoenix is puckering up. People here may possess poutier, plumper lips than residents of any other U.S. city, according to an analysis of data on cosmetic procedures.

The Phoenix metro area took the top spot in the U.S. for showing the most interest in lip augmentation, according to cosmetic surgery consumer-review website RealSelf.

RealSelf said that Phoenix residents visiting its site had a 31.8 percent higher interest in lip augmentation compared to the national average, inching past Los Angeles (29.8 percent) and San Diego (26.3 percent).

The website, described as a hybrid of Facebook and Yelp, evaluated data from visitors in major U.S. metros to see which procedures had the most interest. Last year, the site ranked Phoenix as one of the top 10 cities with the highest interest in non-surgical treatments.

A record number of patients seeking pillowy lips underwent procedures in 2015, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons said.

Lip augmentation, which can include implants and injections, became the second-fastest growing cosmetic procedure in the U.S. since 2000 — only behind dermabrasion. In 2015 there were 27,449 lip implants.

Lip injections steadily grew in number, but those are temporary unlike the permanent-but-reversible silicone implants.
