The Lumixyl Topical Brightening System can help clear hyperpigmentation without some of the side effects associated with hydroquinone-based skin lighteners, according to new research in the April 2012 issue of the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy.

All of 15 healthy Asian and Caucasian women who had moderate to severe photodamage said that their hyperpigmentation was nearly cleared or completely cleared after 24 weeks of Lumixyl therapy. Additionally, physicians found that 85 percent of the study volunteers achieved mild or completely cleared hyperpigmentation at the end of the study. Standardized photos confirmed the results.

“Lumixyl is a novel, effective and well-tolerated topical skin lightening product that serves as a great alternative for those not wanting the irritant effect of most currently available skin lightening products,” says New York and New Jersey dermatologist David J. Goldberg, MD, in a press release.

“It is particularly valuable for treating chronic or persistent hyperpigmentation conditions, where longer term use of prescription products are a concern.” The Lumixyl Topical Brightening System is sold in doctor’s offices.
