The 20-patient trial found that 91% of patients reported improvements in skin quality.

A new clinical study has evaluated PIX:E, an in-office skin treatment platform developed by Rohrer Aesthetics, finding that it improved skin tone and texture in the majority of participants and was well tolerated across a range of skin types.

The platform combines two technologiesโ€”radiofrequency microneedling and Er:YAG laser resurfacingโ€”into a single treatment protocol aimed at promoting collagen production and addressing early signs of aging.

The 20-patient trial, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Alan Durkin, MD, found that 91% of patients reported improvements in skin quality. The study, published by NewBeauty, also noted that the treatment was tolerated by patients with both sensitive and deeper skin tones.

PIX:E uses a 4MHz radiofrequency microneedling system alongside both fractional and full-field Er:YAG laser resurfacing. According to the study authors, the combination allows for deeper collagen stimulation and more comprehensive results than either modality alone.

“What sets PIX:E apart is its ability to seamlessly combine two gold-standard collagen-induction technologiesโ€”radiofrequency microneedling and Er:YAG laser resurfacingโ€”into a single, efficient treatment protocol,” says Durkin in a release. “This is not only more streamlined for practicesโ€”it’s a game-changer for patients. We’re now able to proactively support the skin’s regenerative processes, rather than just reacting to visible signs of aging.”

A New Approach

While many aesthetic treatments aim to reverse visible signs of aging, the PIX:E system is positioned as a more proactive approach designed to delay those signs by supporting the skinโ€™s natural production of Type I collagen. The device is indicated for concerns including uneven skin tone and texture, laxity, enlarged pores, sun damage, acne scars, and stretch marks.

Rohrer Aesthetics developed PIX:E as a consolidated solution for practices that would otherwise need multiple devices to offer a similar range of treatments. “We created PIX:E to simplify and elevate the way practices approach skin rejuvenation,” saysย Liz Smith, chief marketing officer at Rohrer Aesthetics, in a release. “What’s most compelling, however, is the impact this has for patients. It represents a shift toward truly proactive care, allowing individuals to address the aging process before visible signs appear

The company says it plans to continue focusing on technologies that support regenerative aesthetics, a growing segment of the market focused on preserving skin quality and preventing damage before it occurs.

โ€œWith the launch of PIX:E and the publication of this clinical study, we’re reaffirming our commitment to advancing technologies that not only elevate patient outcomes, but also support the long-term success of our customers,โ€ said NJ Wazaney, CEO of Rohrer Aesthetics, in a release.
