A new report highlights a surge in hair restoration and facial treatments among men, identifying the demographic as a primary driver of market expansion through 2030.

Male patients represent the fastest-growing population in aesthetic medicine, with procedural volumes outperforming the broader industry, according to a research report released by 5W, an artificial intelligence (AI) communications firm.

The report, “The 2026 Male Aesthetic Revolution,” found that US male cosmetic procedures grew 4% to 1.6 million in 2024. This growth rate exceeds the 1% to 3% increase seen across the general industry, according to data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons cited by 5W.

The report says the shift is particularly evident in facial plastic surgery and hair restoration. Data cited by 5W from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery indicates that 92% of facial plastic surgeons now treat male patients, up from approximately 65% to 70% a decade ago. Furthermore, hair restoration treatments approximately doubled from 2024 to 2025, marking one of the largest single-year volume increases ever tracked in the category.

“Most aesthetic practices and luxury healthcare brands are still selling to women and accidentally seeing men. The ones who flip that—who design specifically for male technique, male consultation dynamics, male discovery patterns, and male AI-era research behavior—will own the category for a decade,” says Ronn Torossian, founder and chairman of 5W, in a release.

Market Drivers and Economic Impact

The report identifies several factors fueling the increase in male patients, including the reduction of social media stigma and the rise of remote and hybrid work, which has created sustained on-camera self-awareness. Additionally, the report cites the professional advantages of a maintained appearance and the development of male-specific surgical techniques that preserve masculine features as key drivers of the trend.

The economic impact of the male demographic is significant across several sectors:

  • The global men’s grooming market reached $62.5 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $85.2 billion by 2030.
  • The global hair transplant market is expected to reach $10.64 billion by 2031, with men currently driving 78.74% of that revenue.
  • Use of botulinum toxin among men, often referred to as “Brotox,” has increased 400% since 2000.

The report notes that data from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery shows 35 million men in the US currently experience hair loss, with 85% of men affected by age 50.

Evolving Patient Profiles

The research profiles five distinct male patient cohorts: executives, those in the dating market, longevity and optimization seekers, public-facing professionals, and younger patients focused on preventative care. Each group demonstrates unique discovery behavior, consultation dynamics, and lifetime value characteristics.

The report suggests that the male patient will be the defining demographic expansion in aesthetic medicine through the end of the decade.
