The ISAPS 2025 global survey reports nearly 17.9 million surgical and 17.3 million non-surgical procedures, with eyelid surgery ranking as the most common surgery.
Plastic surgeons performed more than 35 million aesthetic procedures worldwide in 2025, according to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). Its annual Global Survey on Aesthetic/Cosmetic Procedures recorded nearly 17.9 million surgical procedures and 17.3 million non-surgical procedures, with total procedure volume increasing 9.2% over four years.
Eyelid Surgery Leads Surgical Rankings
Eyelid surgery remained the most common surgical procedure, followed by liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lift, and abdominoplasty. For the first time, eyelid surgery ranked first for both women and men. Breast augmentation and liposuction followed among women, while gynecomastia surgery and rhinoplasty followed among men.
Face and head procedures increased 3.2% from 2024 to more than 7.6 million. These included more than 2.4 million eyelid surgeries, over 1 million rhinoplasties, and approximately 900,000 facial fat grafting procedures.
Breast procedures increased 5.7% to 4.7 million, while body and extremities procedures declined 8.9% to 5.4 million.
Non-Surgical Procedure Trends
Botulinum toxin remained the most common non-surgical procedure across genders and age groups, with 7.3 million procedures performed by plastic surgeons worldwide. Hyaluronic acid fillers ranked second at 4.7 million, followed by non-surgical skin tightening and hair removal.
Dr Amin Kalaaji, chair of ISAPS’ Global Survey Committee and a plastic surgeon in Norway, said, “The survey highlights major shifts across 51 international markets, led by mastopexy (breast lift) achieving the highest percentage surge with a 48% increase, while eyelid surgery generated the highest overall numeric growth among surgical procedures. In contrast, we observed a significant decline in non-surgical treatments—most notably a 25% decrease in hyaluronic acid injectables for both men and women.”
Patient Demographics and Country Rankings
Women accounted for 85.6% of surgical procedures and 84.8% of non-surgical procedures. Patients ages 18–34 accounted for 49.5% of breast augmentations and 57% of rhinoplasties. Those ages 35–50 accounted for 47% of botulinum toxin procedures and 44% of liposuction procedures.
The United States led total procedure volume with more than 5.4 million and non-surgical volume with over 3.2 million. Brazil ranked second overall with 3.2 million and led surgical volume with 2.3 million. China followed with 2.8 million total procedures.
