Dr Anil Shah has released The Art of Recovery, a guidebook focused on recovery strategies after surgical and non-surgical aesthetic treatments.
Anil R. Shah, MD, FACS, a Chicago and New York City-based double-board certified facial plastic surgeon, has released The Art of Recovery, a guidebook focused on recovery after aesthetic procedures.
Recovery After Aesthetic Procedures
The book addresses recovery after both surgical and non-surgical treatments, including preparation, nutrition, supplements, injectables, red light therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen.
Shah positions recovery as a central part of the aesthetic process, describing it as the “toolbox” for the future of aesthetics. According to the press release, the book is intended for patients and physicians seeking information on post-procedure care.
“Combining scientific insight with real-world expertise, this book empowers readers to approach recovery with confidence and intention,” says Shah. “For my colleagues, this book serves as a forward-thinking resource on how recovery can be optimized with modern medicine and technology.”
Recovery Strategies Included
The Art of Recovery includes Shah’s views on cold plunging, red light therapy, LED masks, and preoperative nutrition.
According to the press release, Shah says cold plunging may help recovery by temporarily reducing blood flow, decreasing inflammatory molecules, and promoting lymphatic flow.
Shah also notes that red light therapy can increase collagen and reduce inflammation, and that regular use can accelerate healing by as much as 25%.
Nutrition Before Surgery
Shah says supplements before surgery should be viewed as strategic tools rather than extras. His protocol emphasizes starting at least two weeks before surgery with leafy or powdered greens for vitamin K and anti-inflammatory support, high-quality protein such as whey, and nutrients including zinc, vitamin D, and bromelain.
The book is available in hardcover and Kindle on Amazon.
