The stats donโ€™t lie: Numbers report that out of all people in the U.S. that undergo tattoo removal, a whooping 70 percent are women. Whatโ€™s more, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery said the procedure saw significant increases in 2015, and was up by 37 percent.

Willowbrook, IL, dermatologist Jessie Cheung, MD, says sheโ€™s absolutely been seeing a โ€œsubset of women coming in to remove their tattoos,โ€ but sheโ€™s treating one area a lot more than the rest: โ€œThey come in for the tattoos on their lower backโ€”the โ€˜tramp-stamp,โ€™โ€ she says. โ€œAs lasers are becoming more demystified and the treatments are more efficient, women are realizing that they don’t need to live with tattoos that are from a previous lifetime.โ€
