Australian researchers have developed a 3D imaging system that will replace unreliable photos currently used by facial plastic surgeons to provide an “accurate prediction” of results.

But a leading patient safety expert and psychologist warn the technology could influence patients to rush into cosmetic surgery while overlooking the risks of the scantly regulated industry, and that improved predictions do not always increase patient satisfaction.
