For breast reconstruction patients, picking out the perfect breast implant can be a daunting task. While it’s always best to consult with your plastic surgeon on the best solutions for your body, many (but not all) reconstruction patients lean toward a natural look. And thanks to a new breast implant, that goal just got one step easier.
Aesthetic giant Mentor just announced the debut of its MemoryGel Xtra breast implants in the United States. According to the company, this is the only breast implant on the market that allows for increased projection, fullness and firmness with a soft and natural feel.
“As a plastic surgeon who specializes in all types of breast implant surgery, there are special needs for reconstruction patients in order to achieve the same beautiful results that I expect from cosmetic surgery. Many of these patients need both larger-size implants and implants with extra projection (meaning they stick out from the body a significant amount) because so much tissue can be missing after a mastectomy,” says Campbell, CA, plastic surgeon Kamakshi R. Zeidler, MD. “Now, Mentor also has a new implant that has an optimal fill ratio. There is a clinical need for breast implants that are both large and optimized for maximum projection for breast reconstruction patients looking to regain a sense of femininity after being treated for breast cancer.”
The implants received FDA-approval back in April and are making their way into doctors’ offices now.
