The safety of performing a simultaneous lip-lift and open rhinoplasty is a topic of debate among plastic surgeons. Incisions for both of these procedures are typically made in 2 different locations on the columella, leaving a small island of columellar skin between incisions. Some surgeons recommend against performing both procedures simultaneously for fear of columellar skin necrosis or excessive scarring.1
