In a move that is sure to level the playing field for aesthetic physicians who want to offer laser skin resurfacing and other procedures to their patients without betting (and losing) the farm, Ellman International,Inc. has acquired the assets of Sandstone Medical Technologies, LLC.
Producing the exact same results, Sandstoneโs affordable laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) portfolio caters to a largely unmet market need for laser and skin resurfacing products priced under $50,000. By contrast, most lasers on the market cost anywhere from $80,000 to more than $200,000. Fully 50 percent of doctors were not buying lasers due to their prohibitive costs.
โMore physicians can now purchase lasers without sweating the return on investment,โ says Frank DโAmelio, CEO of Ellman International. โFor them, itโs an easier buy.โ DโAmelio spoke to PSP after he announced the acquisition at the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery & Anti-Aging Medicine: The Next Generation meeting in New York City.

These products will appeal to โeveryone, but the bottom 10 percent of the market who is retiring,โ he says.
There is a slight learning curve. โLasers are not a commodity, but most physicians how to use them,โ he says. โYou start low and safe, but these are easy-to use machines.โ
