The FDA has approved a new collagen-based facial filler, Evolence, by the OrthoNeutrogena Aesthetics Group, to treat deep facial folds and wrinkles. Evolence has already been used in Canada, Europe, Israel, and South Korea, since 2004, and will now be launched in the US market.
According to the company, the collagen used in the filler is naturally sourced porcine collagen, which is genetically similar to that found in human skin. It is based on Glymaterix technology, which is cross-linked with collagen using the natural sugar, D-Ribose.
When Evolence is injected into the skin, it maintains and enhances the skin’s strength, structure, and structural support so that it is not compromised by the aging process.
