Aesthetic Laser
Reliant Technologies introduces the Fraxel SR1500 laser, which provides noninvasive treatment for skin conditions, such as sun damage, acne scarring, melasmas, periorbital wrinkles, and age spots. The Fraxel laser penetrates fractions of the skin, spot by spot, without breaking the skin’s protective outer barrier. With its Optical Zoom hand-control system, the laser penetrates up to 1.0 mm below the skin surface with precise dosage control. Deeper penetration provides natural generation of new collagen. The Fraxel SR1500 laser features a new operating system with an upgradeable platform that provides real-time measurement data and does not require calculations, graphs, or tables. The software engine is driven by an algorithm that allows the physician to optimize or focus on specific areas of repair, while controlling the collimated depth of penetration.

Intense Pulsed-Light System
The Quadra Q4 intense pulsed-light system by DermaMed USA is approved by the FDA for the removal of benign pigmented and vascular lesions, permanent hair reduction, and acne treatment. The Quadra Q4 system uses patented low-voltage technology to allow the spectral output to remain within the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum, eliminating IR radiation. This low-voltage advantage maximizes absorption levels and the depth of penetration to melanin, hemoglobin, and hair. The unit features a square pulse design without wavelength shift that ensures that the system’s spectral output remains constant throughout the entire pulse.

Sacral Wound Dressing
3M introduces the sacral shape to the 3M Tegaderm™ Absorbent clear acrylic dressing line of wound care products. The sacral-shape dressing, developed for difficult sacral wounds, allows sacral-site wound monitoring and provides the absorbency necessary for fluid management. The absorbent layer provides a moist wound environment that promotes autolytic wound debridement. The dressing is made from a breathable transparent dressing film top layer and a perforated moist skin adhesive bottom layer that “sandwich” a proprietary acrylic polymer. Wound fluid is absorbed through the bottom layer into the acrylic pad, with moisture-vapor transmission through the outer layer. The triple-layer construction forms a barrier to contaminants such as fluids, bacteria, and viruses.

Fat-Harvesting System
Genesis Biosystems offers the LipiVage™ Fat Harvest, Wash & Transfer System, a patent-pending disposable medical device that makes fat-transfer procedures simple for the physician and his or her staff. Centrifuging, decanting, or exposing fat cells is unnecessary. The device harvests autologous fat cells at a low vacuum level, making it gentler than other methods. Fat cells collect in the harvester, a sterile filtration chamber enclosed within the LipiVage device. Once inside, the fat is gently cleaned and concentrated by the filter under low vacuum. Unwanted fluids pass through the fat and filter, and out into an attached waste canister. The fat cells are immediately ready for reinjection.
