Poorly-performing cosmetic surgery clinics would be called out under plans to extend the types of providers health services regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), could inspect.
In a consultation, launched today, the Department of Health proposes to include cosmetic surgery clinics among the organisations that would be legally required to register with the CQC.
The others include independent community health service providers; independent ambulance services; independent dialysis units; refractive eye surgery providers; substance misuse centres; and termination of pregnancy services.
