A global survey of more than 12,000 consumers finds growing interest in personalized, multimodal approaches that evolve with patients’ goals.
Allergan Aesthetics has released findings from a global report that examines changing consumer attitudes toward aesthetic care, aging, and wellness.
The study gathered data from more than 12,000 beauty-involved consumers across nine international markets, combining consumer feedback with perspectives from medical practitioners and regional specialists, the company announced. The project builds upon findings from the company’s US Aesthetics Evolution series, including the “What Consumers Really Want” report, to explore how cultural trends influence aesthetic medicine.
“Aesthetic medicine is increasingly defined by personalization, education and long-term, consultative treatment planning to deliver natural outcomes,” says Nicole Mowad-Nassar, senior vice president at AbbVie and president of Global Allergan Aesthetics, in a release. “Layered Beauty brings together perspectives from consumers and practitioners around the world to better understand these shifts and help inform the future of the global aesthetic treatment landscape.”
Moving Toward Multimodal Treatment Plans
The report indicates that consumers are applying the concept of layering—already established across beauty, skincare, and wellness—to aesthetic clinical procedures. Rather than seeking single interventions, patients are showing a preference for personalized, multimodal treatment plans that adjust over time to align with their evolving goals and life stages, the company reported.
“As providers, we’re seeing patients approach aesthetics with a much more thoughtful, long-term mindset,” says Dr Jeanette Black, board-certified dermatologist and US contributor to the Layered Beauty Report, in a release. “Rather than asking for a single treatment, many patients are looking for personalized plans that evolve with them and complement their overall approach to beauty and wellness. These findings validate what we’re experiencing in practice and reinforce the importance of individualized treatment planning and trusted patient-provider relationships.”
The Central Role of Skin Quality and Clinical Expertise
The report outlines several key developments shaping the aesthetic medicine environment:
- Skin quality is increasingly viewed as the foundation of aesthetic care, with patients integrating procedural treatments into broader beauty and wellness habits.
- Practitioner expertise remains central to care delivery, with consumers relying on healthcare providers to provide education, guide treatment roadmaps, and recommend complementary approaches.
- Aesthetic ideals and treatment priorities differ across geographic areas, highlighting the importance of regional perspectives when planning care.
Allergan Aesthetics stated that the findings emphasize the value of multimodal treatment approaches tailored to individual patient goals. The complete publication is available on the Allergan Aesthetics website, according to the company.
